Tia Holmes, Surf Sister Instructor
You couldn't keep Tia out of the ocean while she was growing up on Vancouver Island. In 2002 she discovered surfing, playing in the waves locally and on the Oregon Coast. In 2004 she made her way to Tofino and started at Surf Sister. Tia's boards of choice are a 6'2" Barracuda and a 9'1" Shuler. Her surf travels have taken her to Hawaii, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. Lombok, Indonesia is Tia's favourite surf spot so far, but she always comes back to enjoy the cooler waters of Tofino. One of her favourite things about surfing is experiencing the nature around her. Seals, sea lions and sea otters, she loves them all!
Dominga Bonnemaison, Surf Sister Instructor
The Okanogan isn't a place you'd expect to find a great surfer, but Dominga was lucky enough to have parents who took her out of school each winter to spend 3 months in sunny, warm Mexico. She started surfing at age 12, and learned to rip at a young age. Surfing has taken her to Spain, Morocco, and Mexico. Dominga has worked for Surf Sister for almost 3 years, and when she's not on the water, her favourite pastimes include hanging out with her dog "Arena", cooking smokies around the campfire, and spending time at the beach.
