FAQ

WHAT IF IT IS RAINING?
Classes are held rain or shine and will only be cancelled if the wind is really blowing hard and/or conditions are deemed unsafe. If you are unsure about the weather, please call us prior to your class and we'll let you know. If a class is cancelled due to the weather, we can reschedule it for another time but cannot give you a refund.

I'VE GOT TO LEARN TO SURF IN THAT!?
Safety is our number one priority. If the surf is too big at Cox Bay, the class will be held at a different location with more suitable conditions. Lessons won't be shortened if we change locations, but will end later than scheduled.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
You should bring your bathing suit, a towel, waterproof sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, drinking water, something to eat, and a dry change of clothes. You might also want to bring along some warm clothes. The weather on the West Coast is unpredictable, and the temperature can be quite a bit cooler near the water than it is inland. You will leave everything in your car so that it is available immediately following your lesson.

I'VE NEVER SURFED BEFORE AND I'M A BIT NERVOUS.
Surf Sister clinics are designed with the beginner in mind. No surfing experience is necessary. As long as you can swim and feel comfortable being in the water, you can learn to surf! If you are still nervous, talk to us about it.

WHERE CAN I STAY IF I'M TAKING A SURF SISTER CLINIC?
We offer a few different packages with accommodation included. Check out the "Stay 'n Play Packages" we offer. You can also find your own accommodation with the help of our About Tofino section

WHAT IF I WANT TO KEEP SURFING AFTER THE CLINIC OR LESSON IS FINISHED?
We have wetsuits and surfboards available for use during all our lessons and clinics. Most of our students are pretty tired out after their two hour lesson and would rather rest on the beach rather than continue to surf. For the die-hards: If you rent your own equipment, you can keep on surfing after the class is over and for the rest of the day. If you rent your own equipment, make sure you rent a "longboard", unless you're at an intermediate level and want to ride a "shortboard". If you use equipment other than the top quality gear we provide, you may run the risk of having the wrong stuff (i.e. a board that is too short, a wetsuit that is too big, etc.) and that may not give you your best shot at surfing.
